Groblox Bends the Rules. Introducing the Wedge.

A single 22.5° component that lets modular event buildings curve, wrap and flow — ending the era of the straight white box.

For too long, event buildings have come in one shape… the box. They’re big, straight, black or white, and then dressed up after the fact with expensive facades and decals to make them look like something. But the real world isn’t built in straight lines. It’s organic. It curves and it flows. Now a Groblox building can too.

Groblox has released the Wedge, a new 22.5-degree component that joins onto the 6-metre edge of the existing system and works with every one of its 40-plus building parts. The name is as literal as it gets. 22.5 degrees is the angle, and that angle changes everything.

Add two Wedges and the building turns 45 degrees. Add four and it sweeps through a full 90 degrees, not with a hard corner but with a smooth, curved arc. Sixteen Wedges bring it all the way around into a complete circle roughly 14 meters across. For the first time, a Groblox building can follow a line instead of fighting it.

That opens up shapes the event industry has never really had. On a golf course, a building can trace the curve of a green or wrap around the tee box. At a Formula 1 circuit, it can hug the chicane and put fans right on top of the action. At the tennis it can follow the sweep of an oval, and at the races it can bend around the track. The payoff is the same everywhere, audiences get closer to the moment, and the architecture has real character instead of being a rectangle in a costume.

Crucially, the Wedge changes the shape without changing what makes Groblox, Groblox. It keeps the 3.0-metre internal and 3.3-metre external clearance, which is still the tallest of any modular system on the market. It also keeps the same clean white powder-coated frame and the same walls and windows that clip straight in. Bending the building doesn’t cost you anything you had before.

Groblox spent last year on R&D for the Wedge and put it to the test at the Australian Open 2026. There it curved a 120-metre purpose-built structure around Grand Slam Oval, housing three food outlets, bars, an entry walkthrough gantry and a retail store. What would once have been a straight run instead followed the shape of the venue.

“We’re not just investing in more infrastructure, we’re investing in design,” said Jayden Grove, CEO of Groblox. “The Wedge came out of working with some of Australia’s best designers and asking a simple question: why do event buildings have to be straight? We’d rather lead that conversation than follow it, and keep building the products that help this industry create better events.”

“I’ve spent a long time in this game, from Formula 1 to the agency side to the client side, and I’ve seen a lot of structures,” said Rob Vercoe, Strategic Partnerships at Groblox. “When I first saw the Wedge, it genuinely felt revolutionary. One simple piece that completely rethinks what an event building can be.”

The Wedge was designed in collaboration with Maake, one of Australia’s leading experiential design agencies.

Heart last

And this is only the start. More Wedges will arrive over the coming event season, and audiences can expect far more curved, flowing buildings in the months ahead: structures built to hug the shape of an event rather than sit beside it. It’s a deliberate step, with Groblox investing in new products and in the designers behind them to help lift Australian events and the people who create them.

A note on imagery: The images in this article were created from 3D models and rendered in professional visualisation software. AI tools were then used for the finishing stage, to place the buildings in their real-world settings. Images are for illustration purposes only.
