Mastercard creates a frictionless activation at the Australian Open 2026

At the 2026 Australian Open, Mastercard introduced its Quick Serve frictionless store, giving fans a faster, more immersive way to grab snacks and drinks. From the moment they stepped inside, visitors were surrounded by transparent LED screens, Mastercard’s Priceless Playlist, layered scents and a digital environment designed to engage every sense.

At its core, the experience was pure simplicity, tap your card, grab what you want, and walk out. No queues, no checkouts, no interruptions. Behind the scenes, 26 ceiling-mounted cameras and shelf sensors accurately tracked selections in real time, letting fans stay focused on the tennis while the system quietly handled the transactions.

The activation was designed by MAAKE Creative and delivered in collaboration with Groblox, Amazon (Just Walk Out Technology), MADE Experiences, Levy and onQ Digital Group. The structure was built from a combination of two Single Blocks and three Corner Blocks, creating a compact, flexible framework that supported the technology-led retail experience at one of Australia’s biggest sporting events.
